Lt. Gregg Wheat



Lieutenant Gregg Wheat has 25 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career as a Corrections Deputy with the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office. In 2001, Lieutenant Wheat transferred to the Sheriff’s Office patrol division where he served until transferring over to the Klamath Falls Police Department in 2006 as a patrol officer. In 2021, Lieutenant Wheat took a promotional opportunity for the Sheriff’s Office as their Operations Lieutenant.



In 2023 Lieutenant Wheat returned to the City Police Department where he currently serves as the Investigative and Support Division (ISD) Lieutenant. Over the course of his career, Lieutenant Wheat has served as a:

· Field Training Program Coordinator

Responsibilities

As a the ISD Lieutenant for the Klamath Falls Police Department, Lieutenant Wheat oversees the Investigative and Support Division (ISD). This includes the Criminal Detective Division, BINET, School Resource Officers, Code Enforcement, Evidence, Records Division, Reserve, Explorer, and Volunteer programs. Lieutenant Wheat is the Facilities and Wellness Coordinator.

Education and Certificates

Lieutenant Wheat holds both Supervisory and Advanced certificates with Oregon Department of Standards and Training. He attended the OSSA Command College, FBI Leeda Supervisory and Liability Program, Executive Academy, Sergeants Academy, SWAT School as well as numerous other trainings involving patrol tactics, death investigations, criminal investigations, terrorism, SWAT and leadership.
