Public Participation & Your Rights
"No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." - Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
You have the right to be treated fairly in the transportation planning process. Federal law prohibits discrimination. This law is provided in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, referred to as "Title Six." The City of Klamath Falls is committed to ensuring that the work we do is fair and meets the requirements of Title VI.
If you believe that you have been treated unfairly, you may file a written complaint with the City of Klamath Falls. Complaints may be filed by any person who believes that he or she has been excluded from participation in, been denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any City of Klamath Falls service, program, or activity, and believes the discrimination is based upon race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability, economic status or limited English proficiency. Written complaints will be investigated.
TITLE VI AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PLAN
The scope of this program is to ensure that transportation programs and services are accessible and provided uniformly, and to avoid adverse and disproportionate impacts by considering the populations impacted by transportation projects. This is primarily accomplished through inclusive public participation, outreach and the consideration of all factors and measures that provide for a context sensitive solution.
